Many institutions are asking student affairs programs to measure how they impact institutional retention, persistence and graduation. The challenge we face as student affairs practitioners is aligning unit level goals, a focus on student learning and larger institutional measurements of success. We may be jumping into these seemingly disparate projects without a clear picture of why we are doing it and how it will help improve our programs.
