While AI has been leveraged by higher education for many years, its prevalence and impact have raised questions around its use in the classroom. Melissa Hortman, Sr. Industry Executive, Microsoft

Melissa Hortman, Ed.D. is a senior industry executive with Microsoft who leads digital transformation and accelerating academic research across all of US higher education. Prior to Microsoft, she was an associate professor and director of instructional technology at an academic medical center in South Carolina. Melissa is passionate about empowering faculty innovation and student resiliency to make higher education more agile and stronger during disruptions now and in the future.

Jennifer Lee, Industry Executive, Microsoft

Jennifer Lee currently resides in New York City as an industry executive at Microsoft, working alongside higher education institutions nationwide to implement strategies that can culturally shift experiences. She considers herself a bit of a nomad, growing up in the Bay Area, moving to Seattle for seven years, then moving to New York to enhance her experiences that can then be translated into her work. She’s dedicated to her work with a passion for transforming students’ lives, all the while addressing the need for diversity and mental health as a top priority for institutions worldwide.

Experienced associate provost with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Skilled in educational technology, online learning, instructional technology, training, adult education, grant writing, OER, and K-12 education. Strong education professional with a doctorate in education from Texas Tech University.
