Should Student Affairs Help Rock the Vote?
The 2016 voter turnout rate for the United States was 55%, representing one of the lowest for a developed nation, according to the Pew Research Center. With a recent presidential election, it’s useful to reflect on how student affairs professionals can impact the electoral participation of students and future alumni – or even if we should. In this webinar, we share trends in student government election participation, political student organization membership, and on-campus events for national elections and voter registration. We explore their contributions to civic engagement as a core competency for student learning.
