Part 3 of 4 in the "Focus Groups in Assessment Series"
The analysis and interpretation of focus group data requires judgment and care. Much of the skepticism surrounding the utility of focus groups stems from assumptions that the data can often be subjective and difficult to interpret. Yet, if the proper tools and approaches are used, analyses can be just as rigorous as quantitative counterparts. There is, however, no one best way to analyze focus group data. The scope and goals of a project determine the level of analysis required as well as the most appropriate tools. In this session, we discuss different approaches and the strengths and weaknesses of each, emphasizing how to make sure your focus groups support effective assessment.
